My name is Amanda. I have decided I will be as strong, fit and healthy as I can be.

About a year and a half ago I had just turned 20 years old and I had hit 160 pounds. I am 5'4" and now average around 134 pounds.

I am not fit. Or at least I am not very fit. I have decided to change that. I want to be around 128-130, way more toned, and less body fat (about 22% would probably make me happy). According to BMI-calculator.net my body fat % is currently 26.65. AND according to scientificpsychic.com/fitness/diet my body fat percentage is 28.6. I have no idea which one is right. All I know is I would like to get it down 4-6%.

I have a progress page. The first pictures were posted 9-11-11 and I won't be posting pictures until 11-11-11. That will be two days before my first 5k and I'll want to show how far I've come in 2 months :)

I am planning on running my first 5k on November 13th, 2011. Run it all the way through. Right now I can barely run a mile. Wish me luck on my goal! :)

So I went Vegan 3 weeks ago.

I haven’t even been trying to lose weight lately… just be healthy.

I’ve lost 3 pounds in 3 weeks. I’ve broken the 132 lb barrier that I haven’t been able to break for over a year (I’m now 129.4 lbs as of this morning). I had even stopped caring about that “barrier” and I had been focusing on maintaining a healthy weight and (at least some) exercise.

So I want to get back into the habit of posting frequently on here.

Quick update on my life:

  • I’m dating a new guy. He needs more attention then I’m used to so this is going to be interesting. But otherwise he fits me in certain ways that I’ve never had someone fit with me. I.e. He’s the only guy I’ve met who wants his (hypothetical) children home-schooled.
  • I’ve been sick for nearly 2 weeks straight and I’m going to get written up at work because of it even though being contagious is not something I was able to avoid (The flu gave me a sinus infection and the sinus infection gave me bronchitis and pink eye. Joy.)
  • I get to see my stepbrother after about a year. He lives in Oregon so we only see him once or twice a year. I’m really excited :)
  • I’m almost positive that I’ve decided to be a social worker. I AM, however, questioning if I have the ability to not get overwhelmed by that line of work.
  • I’m trying out being Vegan. I’m approaching it as an experiment rather than a permanent life change. So far the experiment has lasted a week with only one lapse (Omnomnom… chocolate orange sticks). Though I guess my vegan diet isn’t strictly a vegan diet because I don’t want to give up my honey in my tea and there is a certain supplement that doesn’t come from plant sources that I really don’t want to give up. Other than those two things… I could see sticking to a vegan diet.

So how are you guys doing? I’ve missed Tumblr. I’ve been a hermit from everything and everybody except my job and family and I am determined to stop being a hermit! So I have lots of stuff to catch up on :)

So my bf broke up with me. I’ve been a hermit for a little bit. My plan is to intensify my workout for a while (yay endorphens) and just relax for a while.

 
 

Update!

So I have started a second job and I now work 42-52 hours or more (one job recently reduced my hours and the other one often calls me to cover shifts) a week. It’s awesome and sucks at the same time. I’m still seeing my boyfriend and we are doing are best to see each other atleast once a week.

  • Funny little side story: (for those of you who don’t know my bf is in the air force, as are his roommates) Last time I wen to my bf’s house we walked in and his roommates were in the living room eating dinner and drinking. One of the roommates looked up and said “Oh hi ms nelson” *giggles drunkenly* My last name is not nelson… that’s my bf’s last name. While I seriously doubt that they know something I don’t… it does seem interesting :P

Back to the rest of life: My bf is incredibly busy this month however so for this month we’re seeing each other about every other week. My best friend is in town for a week and so hopefully they’ll get to meet each other but for the next 3 weeks or so he’s on a schedule where he’s working 6 or 7 days a week.

My best friend is currently six months pregnant and I just finished crocheting a baby blanket for her little baby boy. I’m sooooo excited to give it to her it! She lives in Iowa and she probably wont be back to Cali for years so I guess I’ll be starting to make a tradition of a yearly trek to iowa over the next few years :P

I have not been working out much, mostly due to adjusting to working so much. I am getting more used to it though and I hope to do another 5k in late April or early May (and actually run the entire time).

As I am sure you guys can tell my life has been a little crazy and because of that I have put off starting my second two years of my bachelors degree off until June (my first two years took me 3 and a half…) because I’m trying to decide between history and “human services” both would lead to me getting a Masters one would probably lead towards me trying to work in Museums and the other would lead to me going for a Masters in Social Work.

 
 

I got my new computer!!!

And I started a new job and everything is ridiculous right now :P So until things settle down a bit I won’t be posting very regularly for another week or so. But I’m so glad to be back :)

 
 

So my computer died two weeks ago and the only computer I have access to freezes up after 3 minutes on Tumblr. Just wanted you guys to know I’m not dead and I’ll be coming back in about 2 weeks :) Sorry for the silence!

So I’ve had eczema (atopic dermatitis) since I was like 13. For me, it’s not dry scaly skin and some itch that has to do with bad skin barriers(like for the majority of sufferers), it has to do with too much histamine in me and it is an extreme & debilitating itchiness that without medicine evolves into puffy skin (eyelids, lips, skin on joints, skin in mouth & throat). LUCKILY a good 24hr non-drowsy anti-histamine fixes the majority of my symptoms.

Interestingly, an article I just read said that wheat/gluten intolerance in some people shows up in their skin rather than in the digestive system, in the form of puffy/itchy skin!

I’ve never tried eliminating foods like that! I initially got checked for food allergies when this showed up, and on skin tests milk and peanuts popped as allergies (and my dog and cat too!). I cut all that out with no change so blood tests were done and I came up as allergic to nothing! But I still wonder if there is something going on with my diet…
